At SmartNest, we believe your home should be your most private space. This policy explains how we handle the data generated by your SmartNest devices and our mobile application.
1. Data We Collect
Account Information: Your name, email, and home address used for account setup and shipping.
Device Telemetry: Information from your smart sensors, such as ambient temperature, motion detection logs, and light usage patterns.
Environmental Audio/Video: If you use our SmartCam or Voice Bridge, encrypted fragments are processed locally on your device. We do not store raw video or audio on our servers unless you specifically enable "Cloud Backup."
2. How We Use Your Data
Automation & Optimization: To learn your "Home Habits" (e.g., turning off lights when you leave) to save energy.
System Health: To push firmware updates and troubleshoot hardware connectivity issues.
No Data Selling: SmartNest does not and will never sell your personal behavioral data or home habits to third-party advertisers.
3. Your Control & Choices
Local-Only Mode: You can opt to keep all device data within your home network, disabling cloud sync entirely.
Data Deletion: You may request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated sensor history at any time via the "Privacy Shield" tab in the app.
Access Logs: View a transparent log of every time a SmartNest service accessed your device data in the last 30 days.
4. Data Security
We use AES-256 bit encryption for all data in transit and at rest. Our hardware includes a dedicated Secure Element (SE) chip to protect your home network from unauthorized external access.
